Economic Recovery: What is the progress in DuPage?

In response to the recession, DuPage County is experiencing an increase in small business. According to Employment Management Services, Inc. (EMSI) and the State of Working DuPage County Report, the number of small businesses has grown to 42,476 in 2010, up from 41,165 in 2009 and 32,908 in 2004.

Adult Quiet Reading Room Now Open at Helen Plum Library
The exciting renovations of the Helen Plum Library include the addition of a quiet reading area for adults. This room was created to provide access to the adult collection of magazines and newspapers, and to provide a quiet place for library patrons ages 14 and up to read and study. This room will be free from conversations, and pagers and cell phones must be set on “silent” mode upon entering. There will be plenty of outlets for patrons to plug in their laptops, and the new furniture will provide a comfortable spot to relax with a favorite magazine or new mystery novel.
